WMS pricing: what warehouse management software costs

Most WMS pricing follows one of three models: per user, per order, or a custom quote with an implementation project on top. SKUSavvy charges by monthly order volume. $179 a month covers your first 249 orders, seats are unlimited, and every account starts with a 30-day free trial.

How much does a WMS cost?

It depends on how the vendor prices it and on what the quote leaves out. The subscription is one line. Implementation, hardware, shipping postage, add-ons, and the extra people you hire for peak season all land on the same budget.

Start by finding out which pricing model you are being quoted. It decides what makes the bill grow.

Per-user pricing

A monthly fee for each login, often with a platform fee on top. It looks cheap with three people and gets expensive when you add pickers for peak.

The bill grows with headcount.

Order-volume pricing

You pay for the orders you process each month, and anyone on the team can log in. This is how SKUSavvy prices.

The bill grows with sales.

Custom quotes

Common with enterprise WMS: priced after a discovery call, often with a separate implementation project.

The bill is set before you see the software.

SKUSavvy pricing, worked out

One plan with every feature. $179 a month includes your first 249 orders. Past that, each order is billed at the rate for its band, and the rate falls as volume grows. Each rate applies only to the orders inside its band, so growing into a cheaper band never reprices the orders below it.

Every order that enters SKUSavvy counts: online and POS orders, purchase orders, and transfers. Nonprofits get 10% off.

What WMS pricing should include

If a quote is only seats plus an inventory app, you are not buying warehouse software yet. This is what the SKUSavvy plan includes, with what each feature does and what it changes for you.

Unlimited users

Pickers, packers, buyers, and managers each get a login with their own role and permissions.

Peak help costs a login, not a license.

3D warehouse map

Warehouse, shelves, and bins in 2D or 3D, with stock tracked in the bin it sits in.

Anyone can find stock, not just the person who shelved it.

Pick routing and batch picking

Batches of orders with a pick path planned on your layout, on a phone or tablet.

One walk fills many orders.

Scan-verified picks

Bin and product scans confirm each pick, with an alert on a wrong scan.

Mistakes get caught at the shelf.

Packing and labels

Scan to pack, rate shop, and print labels through ShipEngine, with postage paid separately.

No second app just to buy postage.

Purchasing and receiving

Vendor POs, scanned check-in, landed costs, and put-away to bins.

Inbound gets counted once, at the dock.

Forecasting and reorder

Par levels, Low Stock, and reorder suggestions from sales velocity and lead time.

You reorder before the shelf runs dry.

Multi-location inventory

Unlimited warehouses mapped to Shopify locations, with transfer orders between them.

Adding a location doesn't add a plan.

Two-way Shopify sync and API

Orders arrive by webhook, Available goes back to Shopify, and GraphQL API calls are included.

No integration fees on top.

What the price buys on the floor

Real screens from the app. Customer data is anonymized.

Picking on the phones you already own

Pickers open a batch on a phone or tablet at app.skusavvy.com, follow the routed path, and scan each bin and product. You don't need dedicated handheld computers to start, because the phone camera works as a scanner.

SKUSavvy warehouse heat map coloring bins by activity, with a ranked list of the busiest bins

A map of the floor, not just a stock count

The heat map ranks bins by activity, so fast movers can sit near the pack station and dead bins stand out. It comes with the plan, like every other feature.

Costs outside the subscription

These are the lines that rarely show up in a monthly WMS price. Here is what they look like with SKUSavvy.

Carrier postage

You pay for the labels you buy. SKUSavvy handles rate shopping and printing; the postage itself is billed by the carrier.

Hardware

A phone or tablet and an internet connection are enough to start. Most teams add a Bluetooth or USB scanner and a 4x6 thermal label printer.

Onboarding

Self-serve setup has no setup fee, and guides, videos, and support are included. The optional hands-on Accelerate package is $2,750 plus $250 a month for support, cancel anytime.

Optional add-ons

QuickBooks sync (paid add-on) and extra AI assistant credits if you use more than your included amount. Ask sales for its current price.

Per-user WMS pricing vs order-volume pricing

The two models reward different things. Here is how they compare for a Shopify brand that picks its own orders.

Per-user WMSSKUSavvy (order volume)

What grows the bill

Another seat for every picker, packer, and manager

Monthly orders, at a rate that falls as you grow

Adding seasonal pickers

Each one is a paid seat

Free: seats are unlimited

Floor devices

Often dedicated handheld computers

Phones, tablets, or any Bluetooth or USB scanner

Contract

Varies by vendor, so ask about annual terms

Month to month, cancel anytime

Trying it first

Varies by vendor, often a demo

A 30-day free trial with full access and no credit card

How to compare WMS quotes

Walk every quote, ours included, through these six checks before you sign.

Count your real headcount

Include seasonal pickers and packers. A quote built on two admins does not describe your floor in December.

Ask what counts as an order

Definitions differ between vendors. SKUSavvy counts purchase orders, transfers, and POS orders as well as online orders, so model all of them.

Separate postage from platform

Labels cost money on any system. Check whether rate shopping and label printing are included or a module.

Price implementation and hardware

Ask whether setup is self-serve or a paid project, and which devices the floor needs.

List the add-ons

Accounting sync, extra channels, AI, and API access are where quotes grow after signing.

Model year one

Add subscription, implementation, hardware, and add-ons for twelve months at your real order volume.

Why order-based WMS pricing works for a growing floor

The short version, for whoever approves the spend.

A bill that tracks sales

You pay more when you ship more, and the per-order rate drops as you grow.

Peak help without seat fees

A seasonal picker costs you a login, not a license.

No setup fee to start

Set up yourself with guides and support included, or buy hands-on onboarding if you want it.

No long contract

Plans run month to month, with at least 30 days of notice on any price change.

Is AI included in WMS pricing?

Forecasting and reorder suggestions are part of the plan. The SavvyBot assistant runs on AI credits. In every case the software suggests and a person decides.

SavvyBot assistant open beside the SKUSavvy dashboard with suggested questions about flagged batches, shipping services, and inbound delivery times

SavvyBot, the in-app assistant

Ask SavvyBot in plain English which batches have the most flagged shipments or which shipping services you use most. It looks up live account data, builds charts and CSV exports, opens the right screen, and searches the docs.

It can take actions in your account only when you explicitly approve them. It runs on AI credits, and extra credits beyond your included amount are an optional cost.

SKUSavvy Reorder Radar with sales velocity, projected stock, and a suggested order quantity per item

AI-powered forecasting, included

Reorder Radar groups what to buy by vendor and sizes each line from sales velocity, lead time, and your min and max.

You review the suggestion and place the purchase order. Nothing is ordered until a person confirms it.

Layout-aware pick routing

Each pick path is planned against your real warehouse layout as a traveling-salesman route and drawn on the 3D map.

Included in every plan.

A GraphQL API for AI agents

Products, orders, inventory, locations, and forecasts sit behind one GraphQL API, and API calls are included in every plan.

WMS pricing FAQ

Straight answers on what a warehouse management system costs.

01

How much does a WMS cost?

It depends on the pricing model and on what sits outside the subscription. Per-user systems grow with headcount, order-based systems grow with volume, and enterprise systems are usually custom quotes with implementation. SKUSavvy is $179 a month for your first 249 orders, then a per-order rate from $0.20 down to $0.06.

02

What is typical WMS pricing for a Shopify brand?

Many WMS vendors charge per user plus a platform fee, and some add implementation. SKUSavvy charges by monthly order volume with unlimited seats, so a team of 3 and a team of 30 pay the same at the same volume.

03

How does SKUSavvy price its WMS?

$179 a month includes your first 249 orders. Orders past that are billed per order on a graduated scale that falls to $0.06 above 100,000 orders a month.

Does WMS pricing include shipping labels?

Label tooling is included: rate shopping and label printing through ShipEngine. Carrier postage is paid separately for the labels you buy.

10

A phone or tablet and an internet connection, because the camera works as a scanner. Most teams add a Bluetooth or USB barcode scanner and a 4x6 thermal printer for shipping and bin labels.

11

Is AI included in the price?

13

Is QuickBooks sync (paid add-on) included in the price?

No. The QuickBooks integration (paid add-on) is billed separately from the plan. Ask sales for the current price.

How is WMS pricing different from inventory software pricing?
