Hardware

What hardware pairs best with SKUSavvy software? Recommended tablets and scanners.

What device should we use with SKUSavvy?

One of the great things about SKUSavvy is that it's cloud based and runs in nearly any web browser which provides a lot of flexibility given that it can run on almost any device. However, there are certain devices that seem to work best based on our own experiences as well as the customer feedback we've received over the years. We are NOT being financially compensated for providing these hardware recommendations, we just like to make sure our customers use the right tool for the job to get the most out of our software.

What tablet works best with this software?

Bigger screens provide more information at a glance while requiring less scrolling and interaction to find what you're looking for. This does of course come with a serious cost, it's hard to juggle a large tablet and inventory!

We've found that an iPad mini strikes a great balance between being lightweight, easy to maneuver, and runs our software very performantly.

It is recommended you get a ruggedized case with a neck or hand strap for easy handling.

What printer do you recommend?

Most printers that you are already utilizing with a current system or your desktop/laptop will work with SKUSavvy since printing is handled directly within the standard browser print module.
Printing from an iPad or Android tablet will require:
  1. AirPrint compatible printer for iPad

  2. Bluetooth compatibility or a printer utility tool on your laptop/desktop installed and connected to the printer

What barcode scanner do you recommend?

You don't actually need a hardware scanner to run SKUSavvy if your device of choice has a camera. But even the best software scanning solution we've found (we use scandit.com) is still somewhat inferior ergonomically compared to a compact ring scanner that is always ready to go at your fingertips, literally. There are two strict requirements for a scanner to work with SKUSavvy.

1. It must support bluetooth connectivity.
2. It must allow for the configuration of a data prefix.
3. It should support 2D barcodes (e.g. QR codes)

The prefix is required so that our software knows when text input is coming from a scanner versus a bluetooth keyboard. One of the best devices we've found is the Tera 2d Ring Barcode scanner.

What scale do you recommend?

As of January 8, 2023 this is still a premium feature and must be enabled on your account before automatic weight detection will work
SKUSavvy accepts a weight input from a Bluetooth scale during fulfillment for the order. It is not required to have a scale since the system will use the box weight, and items weight to calculate this, however for international of heavy orders this may be helpful to get more accurate shipping costs. Most standard USPS, FedEx, or UPS scales will work with SKUSavvy.
  1. Scale must connect with USB or Bluetooth to the device you are using for fulfillment

  2. You can use a USB to Bluetooth adaptor to convert a standard USB scale to a Bluetooth compatible scale
