Shipment Advanced Options

Insurance, third-party billing, hazmat, delivery confirmation, and every other per-shipment option available before you buy a label.

Billing & Insurance

Open Advanced Options on a shipment during packing to see every option below: the panel is collapsed by default, and you can choose which option groups show using the Choose which options are shown control in its header.

Insurance: choose None, Retail Value, or Purchase Price. If you insure the shipment, also pick a Provider: Carrier (follow the carrier's own claims process), or ParcelGuard, a separate insurance provider. If you use ParcelGuard and later void the label, the insurance cost is refunded straight back to your shipping balance.

Third-Party Billing lets you bill shipping costs to a different carrier account than your own: pick from your saved third-party billing accounts. This is often used by 3PLs billing a client's own carrier account.

Handling

Non-Machinable flags a package that can't go through sorting machines: mainly used for USPS shipments.

This package contains alcohol automatically requires an adult signature on delivery the moment you turn it on: you'll see a warning reminding you of that until Confirmation is actually set to Adult Signature.

Contains dry ice reveals a weight and unit field so the carrier applies the right hazardous-materials handling.

Shipping & Delivery

Ship Date is the day the shipment was, or will be, shipped: carriers that don't run on a given day of the week automatically bump it to the next day they do.

Terms of Trade only appears on international shipments: it sets who's responsible for duties, taxes, and customs clearance on that shipment, overriding your company-wide default for this one shipment.

Saturday Delivery charges for Saturday delivery on services that don't otherwise include it.

Confirmation controls what's required on delivery: No confirmation, Delivery confirmation, Signature (can be released to a neighbor or building manager, or the recipient can authorize release without being present), Adult Signature, Direct Signature (FedEx only: someone at the address must sign), or Delivery Mailed (UPS only, a $2 mailed confirmation). Options your selected carrier doesn't support show dimmed rather than disappearing.

Comparing Rates Manually

If you're not using Autopilot, the rate table shows every available option sorted cheapest first, with columns for Total, Service, Package Type, Carrier, Trackable, and estimated Days: click any column to re-sort. Expand a row to see the price broken down into shipping, insurance, confirmation, and carrier fees.

Clicking Buy on a rate purchases that label immediately: there's no separate confirmation step, so make sure Advanced Options are set the way you want before you buy.
